Got down a bit before mid-day when it started to pour cold rain and a blustry 28knots. The kiters were packing up after having the best of the day. Sat is the car with Squiz, who sensibly went home, then Strawberry/Peter joined me whilst we persuaded each other it was too cold. Then Darren turned up and rigged a 4m so we were duty bound to join him.
It was freezing getting rigged with 4.7m but on the water I was not cold at all. Some lovely runs but no gybes came off except for one where the glove-grip failed, and even Srawberry was having trouble. There was a bad shore dump and it seems like at the bottom of the steps two currents meet to make a mess and the worst place to launch. So when I came in knackered I went further North along the split where it looks calmer, but that was only because there is a fierce rip into the river, even on an out-going tide. I sailed a bit off the wind to avoid the steep ramps but the sea was shallow, still standing 100 yards out and it was ony an hourish after high tide. Waves were very close together and hard to turn on. Strawberry packed up pretty quick. I persevered and was a little bit better than last time in this direction into the waves but still no gybes came off. After while I warmed up and felt OK and then the wind dropped and we both packed up.
Driving back I checked the Dip and the Manor. Both were far better for shore dump. Would have been a great day if we'ld have launched from the Dip. Never mind, next time!
